Unusual Classical Shaped Antique Silver Plated Claret Jug

An unusual antique silver plated claret jug. Classical shape standing on a wide flared pedestal base. The bulbous body tapers narrowly to a hinged lip. Applied cast grapes and vines surround this with a grapes and vine finial. The handle is modelled as a branch with applied grapes. The underside has a concealed section with a cap that unscrews so that ice can be placed inside. c.1870 British made. This is sold in original plate with little wear. The front of this claret jug is inscribed Irish Model Yacht Club presented in 1875.
