Georgian Old Sheffield Plate Argyle
This is a Georgian Old Sheffield Plate Argyle. c1780 British made. This argyle was used as a gravy server. The lower compartment was used to be filled with hot water to keep the gravy warm. Standing on a splayed pedestal foot with a hinged cover for pouring in hot water. The bulbous design has an S shaped narrow spout. This has a wicker handle that is in tact. Hinged lid. There is a repair at the base of the spout. There are signs of wear with copper showing through.
